We May Be Skinny & Wirey

Crocketts.net Release Info:
The first full-length album from The Crocketts with no shortage of raw and raging numbers. This album proved that you couldn't pigeon-hole The Crocketts...not that critics didn't try! Vast and varied comparisons were made to Radiohead, Shane McGowan, Johnny Cash, The Pogues, The Clash, and REM just to name a few. The term 'Welsh Cowpunk' came into play and is perhaps the only accuratley-obscure way to describe the rough and ready sounds of 'We May Be Skinny and Wirey'.

Flower Girl

I watch her as she walks
she pulls the flowers from the stalks
she puts them in her hair
they're happy there
She glitters like a glitterball
hanging from the ceiling of a discobar.
She likes to breathe she likes to be
Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl
I know you like to kiss, like to blister your lips
Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl
you're hitting the world with your pretty little fists.

She hasn't got a head
she's got a neck that slowly spreads onto the forest floor
where the bluebells and the daffodils
are sucking at her blood
she decorates the mud with her sweet scent
with her soft skin.

Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl
I know you like to kiss, to blister your lips
Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Fowergirl, Flowergirl
you're hitting the world with your pretty little fists.

I would like to, I would like to, I would like to, I would like to,
I would like to, I would like to, I would like to,
Cut your head off!

She's easy to detect
there's flesh above the footsteps
she's singing like an angel
sitting on a spire
she wears a chain of daisies
to hide the skin and bones
and marches towards a hill and cross to join the other Jesus clones.

Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl, Flowergirl
I know you like to kiss, to blister your lips
Flowergirl, Flowergirl, FLowergirl, Flowergirl,
You're hitting the world with your pretty little fists.

LOVed Ya once

I support your love like a ball and chain
drive my life in the slowest lane
but the lights have turned to green now.
I look at you and I see your tears
I step into a higher gear
I'm gonna slam my foot down.

Cos I loved you once
but I don't know when
it was a big mistake
won't happen again.
I kissed the good
and I screwed the bad
but I'm mighty ugly
and I wish to God that I never ever had.

When I first plucked you from your cot
you chuckled sweet and smiled a lot
things were just ok.
But now you're old and you're going grey
and you're getting fatter with each new day
I can't stand to be near you.

Cos I loved you once
but I don't know when
it was a big mistake
won't happen again.
I kissed the good
and I screwed the bad
but I'm mighty ugly
and I wish to God that I never ever had.

This band of gold on my left hand
is the symbol of a broken man
it tells of a tragic life.
And even now I curse the day
I was stupid enough to say
I want you for my wife.

Cos I loved you once
but I don't know when
it was a big mistake
won't happen again.
I kissed the good
and I screwed the bad
but I'm mighty ugly
and I wish to God that I never ever had.
And I wish to God that I never ever had.

ExplaiN

You never explain to me why it ever happened
happened in the first place I don't know
You never explain to me who I am or where am I from
or why'd your steering all go wrong I don't know.

And now my back's against the wall
and I have lost control of you
You make me always feel so small
and I have lost control of you.

You never explain to me why you left me standing
alone at my front door crying out your name in vain.
You never explain to me what is all the fuss about
why you have to scream and shout all the time.

And now my backs against the wall
and I have lost control of you
You make me always feel so small
and I have lost control of you.

You got to help yourself
your all you've ever had
you got to help yourself
your all you ever
all you ever had
all you ever had
your all you ever had
all you ever had
your all you ever had
all you ever had
your all you ever had
All you've ever

Now my back's against the wall
and I have lost control of you
You make me always feel so small
and I have lost control of you.

Bluster BOy

THE Bluster Boy is,
Alone, dangled from the streetlight,
just outside the school, so in,
the morning, they'll know what they've done
but they'll see the RIP in the CROTCH
of his trousers, they'll see his BELLY hang
out like MARZIPAN and they will laugh
they don't understand, only the NEXT fattest
plods down his gallow walk,
MARS BAR IN HAND.

And his sister, sits up all night,
And waits for the radio, To answer the details,
of the morning traffic, And then she can sleep,
Then she can sleep.
Old Mr Mars bar, he plays Nintendo,
Watches the world as it laughs and it jokes,
They said you are fat, you are mis-shapen,
Now he's gone, now he's taken.

They kick at his feet. They pull at his hair.
Till he's flat on his back. Till he's red in the cheeks.
They said you are fat. You are mis-shapen.
Now he's gone. Now he's taken.

Girl Next Door

You were sucking the juice of a flower
you were sticking your head in the water
you were acting part of a dolly
you were playing the prodical daughter.

That girl next door is nothing but a cheap whore
I took a look at her and I swore I saw her
Sleeping
sleeping
sleeping the sleep of romance
dreaming the dream of the last dance.

I found you an easy target
when you first put yourself on the market
I was grinning my teeth like a tiger
I was wishing that I was beside her.

That girl next door was flat lying on the kitchen floor
and someone said they fought her
someone swore they caught her
Sleeping
sleeping

sleeping the sleep of romance
dreaming the dream of the last dance
Dreaming a dream of the last dance
Dreaming a dream of the last dance.

Tennessee

Theres a man and he stands at the top of a hill
and his head is high and his eyes are still
he says don't you know what I want you to see
I was born on a mountain in Tennessee
I killed my first bear when I was only 3
I was born on a mountain in Tennessee

You hit me with your hazel eyes,
And I stand back, cause I don't know,
You hit me with your hazel eyes
And I said I would like you to know,
You hit me with your hazel eyes,
And I stand back, cause I don't know,
You hit me with your hazel eyes
And I said I would like you to know that,
I'd like you to know that,

I'm a man and I stand at the top of a hill
and my head is high and my eyes are still
he says don't you know what I want you to see
I was born on a mountain in Tennessee
I killed my first bear when I was only 3
I was born on a mountain in Tennessee

Will You Still care

Will you still care for me,
When I lie dead and crumpled at the
Bottom of your ten storey, high rise flats.
I can be your rubber man.
You can scoop me up and put me in a can
And bury me underneath a stone.
A stone that says that I am only 19 years old.
Will you still care for me?
No, no, no, no,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
You're just gonna let it go.
You say there is no
specific story line.

I am just a figure on a stone mountain.
I think I'd like to jump and float into the sky,
By and by I will reach the bottom,
I will be dead and crumpled underneath your
Ten storey, high rise flats.
Will you still care for me?

No, no, no, no,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
You're just gonna let it go,
I don't fucking think so.

You said you're a beautiful woman
but I've got something to say.
I've been to the factory
Where woman are made.
I've seen what they do to them,
I've seen what they put inside
And now I'm going to stay away
'Cos I found out
That girls aren't made
From all things nice,
Girls aren't made,
From sugar & spice.
So let it go slow.
Let it go slow.
Let it go slow.

'Cos I,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
I don't fucking think so,
You're just gonna let it go,
I just want to know
Will you still care for me?

Closet Heroine

I know you and you know me
we both stood in calvary
I Like you and you Like me
but I have got the MANS DISEASE
I used to have scales and Fins
now I've got eyes and I've got skin
the nature of the suFFering.
I surrendour my superman suit
to the dustbin and drainpipe
and watch the world through
occasional newspapers I think about things,

She
Gives up the fight.
What he did was not right.
But he felt like he wanted it,
Felt like he needed it,
Like he needed it!

I smoke too many cigarrettes
I place too many losing bets
I watch too much T.V.
I think too much about ME
You are a closet heroine
Your hands stuck in a sink
a dress thats cut oFF at the waist
and a blond hair tint.

Six soon to BE seven

Little Mary Allison, is hiding behind the wall again.
Her mother calls come home for dinner, but no,
She doesn't want to go in.
She is playing mudballs at the stream with little
Sally two doors down.

Well she doesn't seem to care,
She just wants honeybunch to hide,
Hide behind the wall again.
Well she doesn't seem to see.
She's just six soon to be seven,
She's just six soon to be seven.

Little Billy strolls down the rover in his cowboy suit again,
Got bananas in his belt, don't have any guns,
But he shoots the post man.
His mother calls come home for dinner, but no,
He doesn't wanna go in.
He is playing mudballs at the stream with little Mary Allison
and Sally two doors down.

Well he doesn't seem to care,
He just wants honeybunch to hide,
Hide behind the wall again.
Well he doesn't seem to see.
He's just six soon to be seven,
He's just six soon to be seven.

Bucket & Spade

So she walked up to me.
She said I'm sick and tired.
Of your washed out,
trussed up, feverish, fantasies
written on my desk.
I said look here sweetie pie,
I would like you to accept my regrets.

She said I've known you since the first grade.
You once lost my bucket and spade.
And first my mamma made a speech.
Then your mamma made a speech.
And ever since then we were not allowed
to play together on the beach.

So she walked up to me.
She said I'd like you to know
that I'm going out
with the captain of the school rugby team.
I said I may be skinny and wirey honey,
but I could tell you the square root
of every letter in the alphabet.

She said I've known you since the first grade.
You once lost my bucket and spade.
And first my mother made a speech.
Then your mother made a speech.
And ever since then we were not allowed
to play together on the beach.

She said I don't like country boys,
I don't like your red hair.
I don't appreciate honky tonk,
I dislike your solid stare.
You got my bucket and spade.
You got my bucket and spade.

Autumn Afternoon

An autumn afternoon the rain is drizzling down.
Put on his crombie coat, slicked back his hair.
Shuffled in stupor all the way to the house.
A finished funeral march and he stood at the door.
He took her by the hand, looked into her eyes and said
I love you
I love you.

Like sun-light, like life itself, like misery, you could take them away
And his head went down no answer back and he ran forever till his heart attacked
And he couldn't see beyond her smile he could see no more point in life.

It's a spring day he just sits there
Watching the fresh breeze blowing in her hair
Her whispered words always make him bleed
She holds him dead this grey day
She was a rose she was a beautiful flower
and he loved her

Like sun light, like life itself, like misery, you can take them away
And his head went down no answer back and he ran forever till his heart attacked
And he couldn't think beyond her smile he could see no more point in living
without this, no beauty sign I know, heaven bliss
'Cos he knew not of a God
but of a pair of brown eyes of a girl
he loved, he loved, he loved, he loved
he loved, he loved, he loved, he loved.

It's an autumn afternoon the rain is drizzling down.
A young man lies cold dead on the ground
She was a rose she was a beautiful flower
and he loved her
yeah he loved her.

Strong Guy

Eyes, your eyes are brazen.
Hands, your hands are all roughed up.
Face, your face is swollen.

You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong
But you're small,
small and stupid.
Stupid. You're small,
small and stupid.

I used to think you had your finger in the dyke.
I used to think you had all the different types.
But you're small,
small and stupid.
Stupid. You're small,
small and stupid.

You look so lonely.
Face, you're face is so familiar.
I am back around the corner.

You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong
But you're small,
small & stupid.
Stupid. You're small,
small & stupid.

I used to think you had your finger in the dyke.
I used to think you had all the different types.
But you're small,
small and stupid.
Stupid. You're small,
small & stupid.

You got this funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny stare.
Your face is so familiar, your hands are all roughed up, its you.
You got these funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny eyes.
Your face is so familiar,
I'm back round the corner with you.

You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong guy.
You think you're a strong guy, strong guy, strong
But you're small,
small and stupid.
Stupid. You're small,
small and stupid,
stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid,
stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.........

Blue Dog

You know I always thought,
you were fucking supercool,
you,
and your blue dog.

You know I always wondered,
why you're so fucking beautiful,
you,
and your blue dog.
